Freenoise gig at the Cricketers 10th August 2006

Another Freenoise-organised gig in Sheffield. Headline act were Auto da Fe from California (featuring former Amps for Christ members), who played a multitude of instruments and preceded each song with introductions like "next we're going to play 'Like a Virgin' by Madonna", when in fact they did anything but.

Before them were James Green & the Weary Sea Dogs, who played some really beautiful folk-ish music.

First up was Eaten by Children, crazy noise improvisations featuring a variety of electronic devices and an electric shaver in a tin box full of washers. I've seen quite a few improvised sets along these lines before, but none quite so lively - new sound devices weren't just switched on, their half-in-place plug was violently stamped into the extension socket in order to get the sound started.
